my eating habits could use some work- i have no control when it comes to sweets, but luckily dont run into them all too often and actually dont normally seek them out. when i do run into them though, watch out! i never could have eaten a QUARTER of a whoopie pie, or even just one whoopie pie if there were 2 different kinds there. eating today wasnt so bad for me... tea and a luna bar for breakfast, 2 small pieces of chicken for lunch- but they were buffalo- how bad is buffalo sauce for you? and, oh crap, i forgot i ate them with bleu cheese. forget it- eating wasnt so great today afterall. i was going to make turkey sausage and peppers with pasta for dinner. how bad is that?
also, like i said, portion control is my big issue. i have gotten better in the past few weeks. i make a conscious effort when there's a lot of feel good food in front of me to not eat as much as i really want to eat. but i still have a bigger appetite than most women i know... i am sometimes amazed at how much i can down in one sitting. any suggestions?
and then there's my exercise routine, or lack of... i walk with bailey everyday, but those walks have slowed down a LOT in the past year. and have gotten shorter. we used to walk 4-6 miles/day at least 3 and usually more like 5 times per week at a brisk pace. now, we walk 1.3 miles per day a few times/week at a slooooow pace. she just cant keep up anymore. and that's the entirety of my exercise. joining a gym seems like a waste of money to me b/c i know if it's not convenient, i wont go- i am just being realistic here. i also want a gym with a pool so i can swim, and those are hard to come by. and i cannot run anymore or ride my bike. so i am not really sure how to get my activity level back up.... and i really miss exercising. i'd like to lift and swim. those are the 2 biggies for me.
anyway, that's my contribution. and i havent dont the push ups.

This sounds stupid but can you do lunges or something while you walk Bailey? Or maybe something with weights? You may look strange but at least nobody will bother you!
And portion control is tough. I say smaller dishes - like we usually eat ice cream out of ramekins because they're small but still you can enjoy it (and eat it with a small spoon) - or an ice cream cone instead of a bowl. Eat a small amount and put away the rest for an hour later and see if you're still hungry.
By the way, have you tried pilates? It's very hard but good!
I'm picturing Amanda trying to lunge when all of a sudden Bailey spots something interesting and starts dragging her, but then she hits herself in the head with one of her weights. Well, at least that would happen to me. But, you all know how graceful I am (see chin scar for recent proof).
Anyway portion control is really hard for me, too. When I make dinner, I often like to make enough to bring for lunch the next day. But, I force myself to pack it up and put it in the fridge before I eat my dinner, therefore preventing myself from getting seconds. Maybe I'm the only little piggie that always wants to go back for seconds, but this might work for others, too.
I can drive you to buy some weights sometime if you want to do some lifting at home. I know dragging weights home would probably be annoying.
hey danielle- that's a really good idea! i usually make enough so i can bring lunches, but i've never thought of putting it away before i eat. what a good idea. i definitely always like to go back for seconds.
lunges are out- knees. owee. but, maybe i will try to get some weight! i like that image of me and bailey, danielle... it would definitely happen.
